Our audit department wants to use the SCCM Asset Intelligence reports and one of the custom Labels to do their job – but after they classify a piece of software (w/custom label) they want to import that back into SCCM so it’s there for the next audit of the next office…
Anybody do this?  Obviously it’s a SQL update query.. but if someone has already done all the work and can get me pointed in the right direction I would be ever so grateful!
I'm also hopefull that this feature and the three custom fields are in v.next!

A custom entry per application?  Can you go the other way around and use assign a category or family to them?

The Microsoft class and family will remain the same - unless it's unrecognized - but our Audit folks want to add the custom field for 'approved', 'banned', etc....

If you are going to work on an approve/banned basis for applications, you might want to utilize DCM instead of asset intelligence.  You can specify prohibited (banned) applications and required/optional (approved) apps.

However, if you need to identify massive amounts of installed software, I would work with Software 10 - 12 reports and customize them to fit your needs.

Yeah, I didn't want to go into all the details.. it's auditing.. you know.. they have about 9 different settings for their custom category.. and it's all just for reporting..

So the problem is that they ran a report and exported to Excel then in the Custom Field they entered their classification for that inventoried application - 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9.... and now they want to import that spreadsheet back into SCCM's Custom AI database...   They have a great idea and all the details are worked out except "how do we import their quarterly evaluations back in".

I'm no expert in SCCM, but I think the best (and only) way to get that kind of information to SCCM to have it be legible and reportable is to use a 3rd party licensing .csv.

But that is a specific format that you have to adhere to in order for the import to be successful.  Now depending on what type of information you are entering, you could put in the information you need under the column headers required by the report.  When you run the query, just modify the statement to show the column headers you prefer.

Of course by going this route, you lose the ability to use actualy 3rd party licensing information because you substituted it for your business requirements.

I found the same question in the Microsoft support forum however it appears it's not something that can be done.

Hrmm even if you could do your request, your audit team would be limited to 3 custom fields not 9.

Agreed it is troublesome if you have custom labels and you have thousands and thousands of titles to categorize. That's a lot of mouse clicks!

Oh sorry, it's one field but with up to nine values.
That is, a 0 means not reviewed by audit.
                  a 1 means under review.
a 2 means reviewed but not approved....
                  you get the idea...

And yes, it would appear they will have to manually enter them - and even worse, it appears the SCCM console is the only way to do so.
