I am running SCCM in VM enviroment with DC on separate virtual machine than SCCM.
I have successfully pulled AD Users and AD Groups, AD System information in SCCM\Computer Management container. On SCCM itself, advanced client has installed successfully pulling in hardware and softare inventory. However, on WinXP and DC virtual machine, I am unable to push advanced client using SCCM Client Push Installation method.ccmsetup.exe Process is not appearing when i click install client on respective machines(DC and WinXP VM)in All Systems container in Computer Management.
Admin$ share is working, WMI, BITS(using local system accout) , Server Services, Computer Browser, Remote Registry are all running.
In SCCM site status, i have yet to see any warning in SITE SYSTEM STATUS.
i want to kno which component handles pushing clients and how can i force it to run at will.

regards

If you are installing the SCCM client you will have entered a privileged account to use for the install - or at least an account that has local admin rights to the computer(s) concerned

So take it from the start. When you push client to a PC check out ccm.log in the sccm primary server logs directory. Search for you PC name (look at it with smstrace in real time) and see if it can connect to the admin$ share. If it cannot - there's your problem. You will probably see an error 5 access denied. If so it has to be a problem with that account accessing the computer - either firewall in on PC concerned or your account doesn't have enough privilege

If it can connect to the admin$ share then just look at ccmsetup.log to see what's happening. Sometine the client install needs a reboot for BITS so the client install just stops and waits for a reboot.

The most likely explanation is the first in there's some sort of privilege issue copying the install files to the client in the first place

If you want to run at will then simply run ccmsetup.exe from client PC under an account that has local admin rights - but the best method is to do an automated deployment from the console

there is no single file named ccmsetup.log in log folders.....
i am using Domain Admin accounts to install SCCM Advanced Client...since Domain Admin account is already member of local admin group on each PC

The ccmsetup.log is located in %systemroot%\system32\ccmsetup on the client system.  If the directory does not exist, then the client push failed and you must check the ccm.log on the site server to find out why.

ccmsetup directory is available on SCCM Server not on client machines, that is, Windows XP VM and DC VM.
in ccm.log file SCCM server, i have not seen any error.
Well....one modification did the trick..i just changed SITE SUBNET to IP RANGE in site boundary..after 3 to 5 minutes ...EUREKA...ccmsetup.exe process appeared in TASKMON on both machines alongwith CCMSETUP folder in %systemroot%\system32\ccmsetup
in your opinion, what might be the issue...????
