Has anyone successfully done a bare metal image deployment on one of these systems? I have been battling for a long time, the PXE I have gotten to boot fine into the WinPE environment - it extracts the windows xp source files fine from the distribution point to the C: drive which leads me to believe that the sequence should not fail because of a mass storage driver.

I'm getting the access denied (800040005) in the 'Apply Operating System' sequence. This appears to happen soon after the source files for XP have been downloaded. Nothing relating to this in the SMSTS.LOG - the only access denied is around detecting for bitlocker early before the actual partioning, this shouldnt matter anyway cause its XP not Vista.

Anyone? :)

I tried last week doing a Vista build & capture on an optiplex desktop with SCCM. I had the same problem you're describing. I thought it may have to do with the unattend.xml file or with not having a Vista license key in the task sequence, but testing for those ruled them out as possible cause. I haven't had time to revisit it yet this week, but will post results if I do.
