Hi All

Using the SCCM Right click tools: http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/rhouchins/archive/2008/04/09/sccm-right-click-tools.aspx
Which is just great tool,  does anyone know how I can change it a bit so I can add "Software Updates Scan Cycle" to the collection instead of just to the individual computer inside the collection? I tried doing it but I guess I'm doing something wrong since it's not showing up.

Thanks
AliG

your best directing you question to Rick who created the tool. you can coment on the link you gave once youve logged in. Although I possed a question & he didnt answer. I endid up working out a resolution to my question by myself. Unfortunatley it was different from your request of which I cant help.

The individual vbs script needs to be added to the Collections GUID in the xml file.  Then the vbs file must be modified to run through the whole collection and perform the action to all machines.  It should take very long to do it.  If no one already has the code then I will see if I can bang something out over the weekend and give it to you.

Well it's 10pm and I just now sat down to my computer.  I won't have time to work on it.  I will see about getting it done on monday.  I do remember about a tool called Collection Commander for SMS.  If it is still around I will see if I can just grab that and add in the script to do the sofitware update cycle.  "Software Updates Assignments Evaluation Cycle"
this is the action we will be performing...

Mhudson,
Really appreciate the help, I've attached the XML file I tried editing, I thought this was the file I was supposed to edit in fa922e1a-6add-477f-b70e-9a164f3b11a2 GUID. But when I added that field, it didn't show up. I didn't even try editing the VB Script for it.

Thanks again!

You could also put it in the sub collections guid    dbb315c3-1d8b-4e6a-a7b1-db8246890f59

Your syntax is correct.  Remember to close the console when you edit.  Wait a few seconds and then reopen it.  Add it to the other guid and see what that does for you.
Your xml file is under x:\Program Files\Microsoft Configuration Manager\AdminUI\XmlStorage\Extensions\Actions\[GUID]

Correct.

Looks like I need to do some changes.  My app requires some DCOM permissions and that isn't good.  I am going to build it the simple way.  Not the best way.

Ok I took the odd approach and did it this way

http://sms-hints-tricks.blogspot.com/2008/06/client-actions-for-entire-collection.html

It will require you pushing a package to your machines to run the commands but it does give you more freedoms than some of the other right click tools.

Matthew,
Thank you for this, I'll test it out and see how it works.
