Good morning/afternoon all,

I am having a problem with SCCM 2007 not approving and installing clients. I've set up SCCM in a virtual server 2005 environment on a 2003 server in a mixed mode. Got all of the pre-reqs checked and the install went smooth without any errors. I've set up a boundary and the discovery did find 5 machines in the virtual lab. I've set up the Approval Settings to "Automatically approve computers in trusted domains", although I have also tried the "manually approve each computer" and it didn't work.

The following roles are running:

component server, device management point, distribution point, fallback status point, management point, reporting point, server locator point, site server, site system, site database server.

I am doing this from the central site before adding a parent site..

The entities under the collections show up with respective host names, "Resource Type = System", "Domain=SCCM", "Site Code = S01", "Client=No", "Approved=N/A", "Assigned = Yes"

ccm.log extract :

Did you update the collection membership?  Check the ccmsetup.log on the target systems (in %systemroot%\system32\ccmsetup\logs).  Does the SMS Agent Host service exist?  What about the ccmsetup service?

This is what fixed the problem for us.

Go under Site Settings --> Client Agents --> Computer Client Agent
Under network access account  add an account that has admin access.

Then deploy a client and see if it fixes your problem.

cstauffer911 - administrator account already listed under the network access account for computer client agent.

jsandys - yes, have updated the collection. ccmsetup folder does exist on the xp client pc under c:\windows\system32\ with 3 files (ccmsetup.exe, ccmsetup.log and MobileClient.tcf?). Here is the extract from the ccmsetup.log  I do not see SMS Agent Host nor ccmsetup service running on the client pc.

The client looks to be having issues downloading the installation files:

Ccmsetup is being restarted due to an administrative action. Installation files will be reset and downloaded again

and

Failed to send HTTP request

Are all of your server roles healthy?

Checked the Site System Status and Component Status under System Status=>Site Status=>S01 - Site 1\ and all are showing OK.

Is it normal for the flag to say "/config:MobileClient.tcf" ?

Tried pushing a client to a newly joined the domain and discovered computer. Keep getting the "[sending with winhttp failed; 80072ee7] and [DownloadFileByWinHTTP encountered an unrecoverable error.] in the newly created ccmsetup.log file on c:\windows\system32\ccmsetup.

The Administrator account is in the Local Admin group.

After reading http://forums.microsoft.com/TechNet/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=3569423&SiteID=17 confirmed that the discovered PC can access the ccm_client folder on the central site (my mp) via http:// .

I've checked the Default Web Site on the MP where IIS is running, and the Internet Guest Account does have Read permissions to the CCM_CLIENT.

Did you check your Network Access Account as recommended by Chris Stauffer above?

Check the IIS logs on the MP.  Look for failures from the client.  What version of Windows is the MP running on?

So just for kicks, I ran the windowsserver2003-kb923845-x86-enu.exe manually on the client pc from path showing in the log (http://hhs361684a.sccm.lab/CCM_Client/i386/BITS25) and it installed fine. Rebooted, and  attempted to install a client  again.

Check the IIS logs on the MP.  Look for failures from the client.  What version of Windows is the MP running on?

Server 2003 Standard edition, and IIS 6.0

What should I look for specifically?

Hi,

error 12007 indicates that the servername cannot be resolved.
Can you ping the FQDN for the server? If you try "ping 361684a.sccm.lab" you will most likely get an error.

My guess is that you have a DNS problem and not a SCCM problem.
If your not familiar to setting up DNS/DHCP stuff ask some windowsguy. =)

Hope it helps!

Hi,

It would resolve fine, but there was something else wrong with ad and mp, good call! I did another clean install in Virtual Server and ran the DNS/DHCP on a seperate machine from SQL05/CM... this time it worked and clients are installing.

thanks for the all help!
