Hey all, is it possible to embed the SCCM client in the image? Without any unsupported hacks that is? I am in a situation where we are considering allowing our PC vendor to apply our image to a box and ship directly to our user, and it would be nice if that image could include the SCCM client without any tricks or hacks that I know some shops use to do similar.

Thanks Gramsey. Sounds interesting, and I guess I have to figure out how certificates would be managed.

Hello, I also want to create a masterimage with the SCCM Client included.

I read the article: " How to Install Configuration Manager Clients using Computer Imaging"

But I'm hanging at that point -->

I don't understand exactly which certificates I should delete.

In the SMS 2003 ToolKit, there was a tool called CCMDelCert.exe which does the job.

Unfortunately I don't find any comparable tool for SCCM2007.. and I don't think that the "old" one is compatible.

I am running SCCM 2007 & have been using CCMDelcert from the SMS 2003 Toolkit 2 without problems. In fact, a Microsoft technician recomended that I use the old CCMDelcert.

The instructions say to not put in a site code, but when using smssitecode=auto, then the master image client registers almost immediately and therefore the site code still ends up in the image. I'm having issues where imaged PCs are not processing policy until I force a refresh, or re-install the client. We're running mixed mode, so there is no certificate issue.

I'm hesitant to remove the smssitecode variable completely and rely on DNS. Any thoughts?
