Please forgive my stupid question, but what is the purpose of the sms_health database in sql on the sms server?  I'm assuming it is to log the status of the sms database in one way or another, but can someone please provide me with some more information?  Our DBA that backs up our databases asked me the purpose of the particular database the other day and I realized I couldn't really give him a complete explanation.  Thanks.  : )

FYI only remember that you have to use the SMS Backup task if you want to restore your SMS site. If you use SQL backup to restore your site you will end up with problems.

Therefore I make sure that SMS is backing working and change it to daily instead of weekly. And tell all SQL admin not to backup the database as SMS will do it.

The SMS_ClientHealth DB is created when you install the Client Health Monitoring tool. Perhaps it was renamed if installed on your system.
That said I agree with GJones above - make sure that the SMS Backup task is doing it's job. If the SQL guy is backing it up, it may prevent the task from completing successfully.
