does anyone know what the SQL management pack monitors? I knwo what's auto-discovered and what isn't, but finding out just what the pack monitors is a bit frustrating.

Besides reading the SQL MP Guide, I would suggest using the MPViewer utility, or Silect MP Studio v3 Lite, which is free, to view the rules and monitors that are in the MP. http://www.silect.com/products/products_express.php for mp studio, and mp viewer version 1.5 is available here http://blogs.msdn.com/boris_yanushpolsky/archive/2008/06/03/mpviewer-1-5-performance-rules-and-monitors.aspx
