All-

I'm trying to figure out how to Create a Monitor that will tell me when a server is reachable. Currently I receive an alert and email (Failed to connect to Computer) when a server is unreachable. I also want to know when that server comes back up. I know that these monitors are self resolving but I need an email when the server becomes reachable. I've read many different things in different blogs. Any ideas?

Also, I thought emails could not be sent from monitors, only from rules? I'm still on that huge learning curve from MOM 2005 to OpsMgr.

It should work, if you override this rule "for all Objects of another type" -> (e.g.:) "Windows Server 2003 Computer"

or you create you own rule:
