Hi All,

Im new to SCCM and SMS have recently implemented this in large enviroment and have gone on all the training i can. In the existing enviroment there is a mixture of machines as well as different buisness areas, in the past i have used the %image% environment variable of the machine to push out application as most are in house developed and mobile tablets need a different version of an application then a standard LAN PC.

Is there anyway to make a collection in SCCM thats is based on these environment variables? Ive done some searching but had no luck, its hard to belive i cant as there is so much information that SCCM can use to make collections.

Thanks heaps

Well, if it's a system variable, then you should be able to turn on the section in your SMS_DEF.MOF called Win32_Environment and use the variable information that will come back from that.  It should create a new class that you'll be able to select when you're creating a collection.

Now, if it's a user variable, then there's much more work to be done to write a script or have something to map those user variables to the machine. Seems like some people had a discussion about this lately...
