We need to be able to produce a report that gives supplemental application information on a machine by machine basis.  We have the rules to identify those applications, but not a method or report to display the information per machine.

What are the right tools to identify and report software for reprovisioning of systems during an OS migration?

Ok, I have a plan, but I am not sure if it will work.
I am hoping to modify the report "Software 02E- Installed Software on a Specific Comptuer"  by grouping all image software into one family.
Then I will need to deploy, based on file and HW(reg) inventory, an add/remove program component for each application that doesn't already have one, thereby adding it to this report.
Is there a better way to do it or am I going in the right direction?  (man I wish I was at mms...)

It's been a long day, so I admit, I'm confused. You want a report that gives you a list of all the software installed on a machine? Including the software not listed within Add/Remove Programs?

From your post it sounds like you've got SMS 2003 running (but I could be wrong), so have you looked in the SMS 2003 subform or Web Reports? There's a lot of good info there about the available reports and how you can modify them to include other information (such as maybe certain .EXEs).

I guess if that doesn't answer your question you might need to clarify a little further (or it could just be my "brain dead" day)...
