I have noticed on some of my computers that an advertisement is failing. There are different result codes some are execution time exceeded and some are unable to locate contents. When I review the execmgr log, the common factor on these failures is the source version the client is trying to receive is incorrect.

The computers are connecting to the correct MP and other computers in the same location are running the advertisement correctly. I have tried sending a new version of the package to all distribution point and that has not corrected the problem.

Does anyone know of a way to get the client to request the correct version of the package?

Any help is appreciated.

Under the System Status section, check the package status for your distribution point and see what the version is on it. It's possible the version on your DP is out of synch with the current version, which in that case you can do a package refresh that should send it back down.

The package version on the DP matches the version of the package.

In the few instances in which I've experienced this is when someone manually ran the install from the package source files, that despite not changing any actual content, set some kind of flag with the server that the content was changed. This would then keep any clients going forward from running the advertisment. To resolve this, I just updated all distribution points so that everything would be in sync.
