I understand that a task sequence is designed to be zero touch and everything, but just the way it works, it would be easiest for us to have a lite touch right at the beginning of the install to specify the computer name and such.

I can do it with a vbscript using and input box, but that's a little limited, i was wondering if there is a better way to do it, with more features, such as running an HTA. I'm assuming I could re-build the pe image with hta support somehow, but I was hoping there was an easier solution.

Check out this article: http://www.myitforum.com/articles/11/view.asp?id=11652 which has an HTA based on the "UnknownSystem.hta" found in the SCCM 2007 SDK.

* I'll be putting up some more HTAs in the article once I get some free time again....

Is that supposed to work in a PE Environment? I guess I wasn't very clear that I need this to run in PE, since my bare metal computers will pxe boot right to the imaging process.

Even so, that HTA is pretty nice to have.

It'd be nice if we could control the dialogs that are already implemented, for examlple when you have multiple task sequences advertized and PE lets you choose which one you can run.

Yeah, it can be made to work in PE. You basically just add a "TSConfig.ini" file and the .HTA to your WinPE .WIM file...
