I can get all the different models of Dell Latitudes and Optiplexes in our environment to wake from a "Soft Off" state, but for all Latitudes and our Optiplex 990, I can't seem to get them to wake from a "Sleep/Stand by" state.
I have tried all different BIOS setting combinations and still no joy.

OS is Windows XP SP3/7/7 SP1 with latest BIOS versions installed.

Anyone with success on these models care to share their settings?

Thanks,
Jerry

Jerry - begging the obvious here, but have you verified that the power mgmt settings in the NIC driver are properlyu enabled as well? Usually indicated as  text like "Allow this device to wake the computer"

      Hi Ed,

I'm not in front of my lab machines, but I remember enabling all three check boxes.  I recall looking at the NIC PowerMgt settings for the Optiplex 980 and used the same settings on the Optiplex 990.  There are no new NIC driver updates for the 990 at present either.

One difference within the BIOS; all Optiplex 980 and lower WoL capable models have a "Suspend" setting; [S1 | S3] all were set to S3.  The 990 has "Deep Sleep" setting; [Disabled | S(4/5?) only | S4 or S5], I've tried all three settings and that didn't make any difference.  I have not seen anything similar to these configurable settings in the Latitude's BIOS, only "Remote Wake Up" is available.

All lower Optiplex models we have (745/755/960/980) don't have an issue waking up from sleep/standby (Win 7 Os), I'm not too overly concerned about the laptops as they really aren't left overnight in the office, it's just this new Optiplex 990 on Win 7 that is a PITA.

I'll take another look at my NIC settings again tomorrow.

      Thanks,
      Jerry

well you have me stumped at this point, Jerry... I've not run i nto this before.... you may want to reach out to one of our friends at Dell (Donnie, Greg, Warren, Angie) and ask them? This isnt a 1E issue, but more a function of pulling the HE at the BIOS and NIC level together with proper drivers and so on to pull it off IMHO... absent that, call Support for their input/opinion on the subject...

          Thanks Ed.

I'm not sure what I've changed, but I've got them all working now.

Now going to reload BIOS defaults and OSD them back to baremetal SOE and test again...
