Where does SCCM 'look' on a client for a list of installed software?

Does it only check the registry for a list of what's in 'Add/Remove Programs'? what about what's in C:\Program files ? Any suggestions on how to tweak SCCM to get the most extensive list of installed software on the clients? Thanks!

Hardware inventory (which is what tells you what is actually installed) doesn't look in C:\Program Files. Software Inventory will tell you what is resident on the disk including the Program Files directory. Keep in mind that just because something is resident on a disk doesn't mean it is "installed" though. Also, depending on which report you are looking at you may be looking at the results of HW inventory vs SW inventory. -- Neil

you could extend your inventory to collect info on exe files, then report on which systems have a particular exe.
