I just realised that XP machine with sp2 can be setup as a SCCM Standard DP.

Any idea this is a supported setup ?

Sort of...you'll still only get 10 concurrent connections to that DP. You'll get support, unless your problem stems from the fact that you have more than 10 machines that need to connect to the DP at the same time and you're running the DP on XP.
