Hi guys,

What's the story with doing serverless branch PXE builds - seems to be good for sms, but not sccm.

Any info?

Thanks

Nick

I am told we are testing version 1.6 at the moment but not sure of a definite release date.

Hi Ed,

Looks like PXE Lite 1.6 is out... kindof...

Is there a white paper paper or similar that goes through the technical aspects of setting this up? I want to see if this can work in a sms/sccm redesign we are doing...

Also, is it licensed as part of Nomad?

Many thanks
Nick

You're correct... the new version is indeed available... however, v1.6 is only available via a professional services engagement.. from the Nomad Enterprise download page (http://www.1e.com/DownloadList.aspx?product=NomadEnterprise&Section=NomadEnterprise)

PXE Lite provides a solution that delivers a local PXE server with the ability to deploy images to local "bare metal" machines. Using PXE Lite you can now assign workstations to act as designated PXE servers, making the whole solution efficient, flexible and low maintenance.

PXE Lite 1.5 supports SMS 2003 only and can be downloaded here for a free evaluation.

PXE Lite 1.6 supports ConfigMgr 2007 only and is
provided with professional services from 1E.

I'm looking into the availability of additional public documents on the topic.

OK... ADMIN and INSTALL guides will be posted to the web. I'll let you know as soon as they are there.

OK - as promised, the new Admin Guide for Pxe Lite v1.6 for SCCM2007 nis now public at the bottom of the Nomad Branch product page:

http://www.1e.com/DownloadList.aspx?Product=nomadenterprise&Section=nomadenterprise

Hope this helps. Remember that implementation support comes only via a professional services engagement.

Excellent, thanks Ed.

We are only scoping things out at the moment - one of these never-quiet-starting projects.

glad to help.. don't hesitate to reach out directly for help, questions or whatever... that's what we're here for.. while incredibly powerful, this tool is also a bit complex to set up initially, hence the need for a services engagement in production - to ensure it is "right" from the start.
