kcas -> SCCM Collection Utility (3/19/2008 1:04:31 PM)

Under SMS 2003 there were some utilities that allowed you to create a new collection and then populate it with a list of devices,  does something similiar exist for SCCM?  Thanks.

Yes, many of the utilities will work with SCCM with little or no modifications.  Some of the more complex tools require reprogramming with the new DLLS.

The utility that we used to use (which I got via MyITForum,  thank you)  was called Steve O's SMS 2003 Collection Membership Wizard,  this does not work with SCCM.  I'm hoping someone can suggest another.

I have a tool that I have just completed basic testing for on SCCM. You can safely add up to 4,400 direct memberships to a collection.

It is highly customized for our environment, but if there is enough interest (and a lack of another tool available) I could be persuaded to remove the customizations and make it available on myITforum.

One side note - youd have to accept the risk that this tool writes directly to the SMS database, only collection creation is handled through the SDK. Mind you, it is dramatically faster than anything you could do through the SDK.

Here you go...

Roger Zanders SCCM Collection Tool

or

Roger Zanders SCCM Client Center Tool

Hey henry, you know something we don't? I looked out at the site for SCCM Client Center, and saw that it was supported to have been updated on 4/18/08, but the only file for download is still SMSClientcenter from 1/25/08.
