r2000 -> Error when running Configure ConfigMgr Integration Utility (4/1/2008 1:15:48 PM)

Hi.
I running SCCM in my Labb enviroment, this server doesn't host any other services.
Everything working great, i have now installed a new server with MD 2008.

After the installation of MD 2008 i installed the SCCM Console on the server, after that i trying to run the Configure ConfigMgr Integration Utility.

When i run the Configure ConfigMgr Integration utility i get the following error:

Error compiling MOF
Non-zero return code, rc=1, from MOFCOMP while compiling "C:\Program
Files\Microsoft Configuration Manager
Console\AdminUI\Bin\Microsoft.BDD.SCCMActions.mof"

If i install the MD 2008 on the SCCM server then run the ConfigMgr Integration utility from the SCCM server it's work great. But i don't want the MD 2008 to be installed here.

Hi R2000,

Not much help to you I'm afraid, but I'm having an identical problem with mine.  At least finding this post has reassured me it's not just me havng a blonde moment!

Anyone got any suggestions towards resolving this?  I'd love to give the new deployment kit a try, but it's not looking good if I have to log into the server each time I want to do anything.  All contributions gratefully received! [:)]

Incidentally, I get this same message when running the integration tool under a number of different accounts, including my domain admin account.

There are a lot of people having this same problem and the work around is to manually compile the mof locally.

C:>mofcomp "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Configuration Manager Console\AdminUI\Bin\Microsoft.BDD.SCCMActions.mof"

The MDT Integration Wizard uses the -autorecover switch when compiling the Mof and for some unknown reason it fails.

-autorecover

Adds the named MOF file to the list of files compiled during repository recovery. The list of autorecover MOF files is stored in the registry key:  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WBEM\CIMOM\

Use the C:\Windows\system32\wbem\logs\mofcomp.log for troubleshooting

The issue has to do with the security rights in the ConfigMgr site the integration is being setup for.  I have had the issue with my credentials on multiple machines setting the admin console and the MDT integration.  Even with the bad mofcomp return code the integration still works.  However, I had another user who has full security rights in the ConfigMgr site try the same command and he does not get the error.

The "autorecover" issue was fixed in MDT 2008 Update 1. (It generated an error if you were compiling the MOF while specifying a remote site server.)

The other challenge is security. It's best to run the "Configure ConfigMgr Integration" wizard with an account that is a member of the "SMS Admins" group on the site server and that has full class rights to all ConfigMgr security classes. (It requires less than that, but we haven't investigated exactly what is required.)
