I have been reading a lot recently about App streaming and Software Virtualization. Does anyone have a matrix comparison between the leaders in the technology, value, pricing, server/client components, advantages/ disadvantages, any recommendation?
1. Does it save on licensing options?
2. What happens to our existing packages? How do we virtualize/ convert them into virual packages?
3. How does the Microsoft's Softgrid client/ Softricity server technology differ from Citrix ICA (already in the market)/ Citrix Presentation -XenApp Server technology?
4. How will SMS report a virtualized instance of an application?
5. ThinInstall does not have a caching component, so is it not good for mobile users?
6. How would mobile users get the vitrualized app? (since they are offline and not always connected to the streaming server)
7. Memory/ performance issues with multiple virtual instances running on a machine?
8. Can all types of packages be virtualized? Eg. Apps needing access to SQL Server, Oracle Database? Java/ .NET Apps? How about web based apps? Bloomeberg etc.
