Hi myITforum-community,
i've got an testlab environment with AD, DNS, DHCP, WINS, MSSQL2005 SP2, WDS and ConfigMgr all on my Windows 2003 SP2 Server.
My client gets an IP and everything but the PXE advertisement of my build images is okay.
When i try booting the client via PXE i get the following message:

PXE-E55: ProxyDHCP service did not reply to request on port 4011

When i take a look at the Application event log i see the following error for SMS_PXE_SERVICE_POINT:
On 18.04.2008 11:35:32, component SMS_PXE_SERVICE_POINT on computer DEPLOYSRV01 reported: PXE Control Manager detected PXE service point is not responding to PXE requests. The error is 16389.

Possible cause: PXE service point is not started or not responding.
Solution: Manually restart the PXE service point.

Possible cause: WDS service is not responding.
Solution: Manually restart the WDS service.


Now what can i do about this. How can i restart the PXE service point?
Is there any solution for this?

Any help is highly appreciated.

One comment. Ensure that WDS is not listening on port 67 (since DHCP is on the same server).  http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb680753.aspx I'm sure you did that though.

Could try removing and reinstalling the PXE service point.

After some reconfiguration and reinstalling both wds and the service point it works now.
But now i've got another problem...it get into the PE Environment and it says "Preparing Network Settings" but then the PC just restarts...
i watched into the smsts.log on the client-PC and it looks as if the ConfigMgr Client Installation Package could not be downloaded.

Without your whole log, it may be difficult to get a specific answer.  Check the SMSTS.log for following:

Network Access Account Not Set
Resolution:  Go into the Client Policy in SCCM and set a Network Access Account.  It sometimes "disappears" even after everything has been working fine.

PXE CERT Not Set
Resolution:  Check the PXE Certificate in the SCCM console.  Verify that the Root CA is trusted.  Alternatively, reset the expiration date.

GetHostByName Failed
Resolution:  Ensure the FQDN is properly set.

Thanks for your help riarrett!
Finally the OS deployment succeeded. I just had to set the network access account again and install the certificates on my server...
The only thing i wonder about is that the advertisement status says that the advertisement is still running.

i've the same problem.
Each time i reboot the server, the WDS service stopped with this error.
If i start the service manually, the service is ok and never stop again.

Do you have any idea?
