jscott607 -> Question about drivers for Dell GX520 (4/25/2008 10:49:31 AM)

Hi everyone. The Dell GX520 chipset drivers are not updated during the build at my company. I have only updated the JIT drivers package a few times so I may be missing something simple.

I downloaded the drivers from Dell. I unpacked the new chipset driver and I could not locate the .cat and .inf files. Instead, it was a setup.exe with some .dll.

How do I update the drivers without these files? Thanks for any advice.

Unfortunately Dell usually distibutes the Intel chipset drivers this way.  the good new though is that the drivers that are needed are not specific to Dell.  You can download the latest chipset drivers straight from Intel and use those.  To my knowledge, all Intel chipset drivers/infs are distributed in one big package that is common to all chipsets and OEMs: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/filter_results.aspx?strTypes=all&ProductID=816&OSFullName=Windows*+XP+Professional&lang=eng&strOSs=44&submit=Go%21.  This also implies that if you already have Intel chipset drivers imported, you don't have to import new ones because they aren't specific to vendor desktop models.
