jbenoit -> Sysprep foul-up - can't run Mini Setup (4/25/2008 12:02:59 PM)

I'm a total ConfigMgr 2007 noob and have already gotten myself in a bind.

I was to do on OS refresh on our IT Directors laptop and figured before I did ANYTHING I'd completly back it up to an image. I used a Capture CD created by the SCCM contractor who installed everything just a week ago. It prompted me to place a Sysprep folder onto C:, which I did. However, I used a copy that said contractor left, and not one that I had always used previously (with our now-defunct Altiris solution) so I did not know it's contents, but trusted it was the right thing. Apparently, there was no sysprep.ini file at all there, so I'm not sure what sysprep options, etc were even applied. It looks like a -nosidgen was somehow assumed as upon reboot after the capture, I'm presented with "Windows is unable to start because the registry could not be updated."

I tried to sneak into Safe Mode and now just get "System is not fully installed. Please run setup again". And I'm in a loop...

Is there any way at all to get back into Windows? I did not do a User State capture or anything and really need to get access back...

If you just want to see what's on the drive, you can put it into a USB enclosure and attach it to a different working system.
