tommy_a_d -> OSD - Can't get ISO to burn and be bootable (4/29/2008 12:19:25 PM)

Hello... I am having this issue where every cd I create with Task Sequence, Create Task Sequence Media, using the default boot images, or a custom one I created, will not become bootable. Number physical and virtual machines will not boot to the Windows PE. They can see the files and run the task from the CD in the O/S but I can't get it to boot from it. I am trying to create my reference image, and I get to where I have it sysprepped and ready to be captured, but I can't the the machine to boot off the CD to complete the process...can anyone help me??

Hi,

the create task sequence media is NOT a bootable cd.

You install your reference computer using your cds. then you copy the Sysprep files in c:\Sysprep

then you insert the CD, whcih you created with task sequence media and you capture the image into your SCCM server

hope this helps

The default Boot.wim has limited drivers.  Does it boot at all?  Example, boots and recycles, or is it not even launching the WinPE environment at all.  The former suggests network driver issues, the latter may be mass storage.

I just posted some steps that allow you to add drivers and prep the WIM for use with SCCM.  The steps generate both a WIM and ISO that can be used for testing.  When you get a good ISO, then import the parent WIM into SCCM to create your task sequences.

Alternatively, you could then add those drivers into SCCM and "apply" them to your boot image.  So far, I have had no success with this approach.
