vity -> Capture and Deployment of Windows XP (4/30/2008 3:52:07 AM)

Hello everybody,
I am trying to capture or deploy an *.wim image with Windows XP, but I get only failures (0x80070003, 0x80070002).
I made a bootimage an advertised an tasksequence to the computer, where I tested it. The computer also saw the tasksequence and started to run it. After a while it runs into an error (see above).
Everywhere it is shown hot wo to do this with Vista or Win2k8 Server but not how to do this with XP...

Have anybody a howto or something else, how I can handle Windows XP images correctly over the SCCM?

Thanks.
Vity

If  you know Bdd 2007 it will create a wim during its capture process file with the drivers injected.Normally that wim is either place into WDS or the ISO is burn onto a cd. Take that wim and used it for sccm 2007 (XP OSD). If I am not mistaken it uses the conrect PE and Sccm would not have a problem.

hope this helps

Are you having problems capturing an image, or deploying an image?

Deplying an Image works fine with a Boot CD.
I have problems capture an Image...:(

To capture a Windows XP machine try this...

1. Build your reference machine (does not need to have the SCCM client installed as was required in SMS 2003).
   * Just my two cents - build the reference machine manually and skip the auotmatted stuff right now (you can always try that later after you get everything up and running).
2. Create an Image Capture Wizard CD.
3.While logged into the reference machine, insert your SCCM Image Capture Wizard CD and follow the steps in the wizard (point it to a place out on the network where you can stash the .WIM file).

Here's the steps to create the Image Capture Wizard CD...
If not already open, open the Configuration Manager Console and then expand “Site Database (XXXXXX)”.Expand the Computer Management node.Expand the Operating System Deployment node.Highlight the Task Sequences node.Select the Actions | Create Task Sequence Media menu item.Select the “Capture Media” radio button, and then click the Next button.Select the “CD/DVD set” radio button.Enter the location to save the .ISO image to, and then click the Next button.Media file: C:\SCCM_CaptureMediaCD.isoSelect the boot image that should be associated with the image, and then click the Next button.Boot image: XXXXXXXXXXClick the Next button to accept the Summary information and build the .ISO image file. After successfully building the .ISO image file, click the Close button.Create the physical Capture Media CD from the newly generated non-bootable .ISO image file. If that doesn't help, let us know where in the capture process you're having problems....
