simulacra75 -> Attempting to run LTI wizard in ZTI doesn't work (5/2/2008 9:12:58 AM)

Folks

I'm trying to run the LTI wizard in my ZTI deployment process so that the Computer can be given a specific name, admin password created, etc, etc. I've followed the instructions as per

http://blogs.technet.com/benhunter/archive/2007/03/17/bdd-2007-tips-and-tricks-using-the-lite-touch-wizard-in-zero-touch.aspx

but it doesn't appear to work. When the ZTI process starts I can see the task sequence attempting to run the command but the wizard never appears on the screen and the ZTI process just sits there, apparently trying to run the command.

In order to troubleshoot the problem I rebooted into my "lab" Windows PE and I am able to launch the "testhta.hta" file. so there does appear to be support for HTA installed.

If I then run the below command;
mshta.exe "<FQDN of server>\OSD_ZTI_DP\WINXP\Wizard.hta" /definition:DeployWiz_Definition_ENU.xml

the wizard screen appears for about half a second and then disappears again. If i run the same command from the actual server itself then the wizard pops up perfectly. Any thoughts on why this might happen?

Thanks

This could be a silly question but since the original "tip" from the link above is for BDD 2007 that this could be the reason that it's not working for me in MDT 2008? Has anybody else managed to get the above working in MDT 2008?

Thanks

Finally got this to work. It turns out that there were a bunch of files missing from my Share. Even though i copied the files specified from the link in my original post, i decided to copy all of the files from the Distribution\Tools\x86 directory into my OSD share, modifed my Program properties in SMS to add all the additional files and hey presto, its now working, kinda.....

Just have to figure out now how to get the Wizard to stay "on top" when running, get rid of the "joining domain" screen in mini-setup (since this is done by the wizard), maybe adding a drop down list of OU's so that admins can just pick one rather than typing it all out and maybe adding a selection screen of SMS packages to install. Oh the joys of it all.......
