kwill1229 -> Modify RSS feed -- Possible? (5/6/2008 2:12:29 PM)

I really like the idea of the RSS feed for the most recent alerts, but I am underwhelmed with the data it displays.

For example:

Title                                                        Date
Failed to Ping Computer                         5/5/2008  5:08 AM
Windows Service Performance Issue      5/5/2008  3:00 AM

That generic description doesn't give me nearly enough information to make a decision.  There's no reason to use the RSS feed if I'm going to have to launch the console (even within the RSS program) for every alert.  I wanted to make this feature available to user who might not want or need to get alerts, but would appreciate the list view of what is happening.  Giving them cryptic (and confusing) information is worse than giving them nothing.

Is there a way to modify the data that the xml data is displaying?  I've looked for the XML file that is being used by the RSS, but it doesn't appear that it exists as a standalone document.

Does anyone know if there is a way to make this more functional?  The Alert Source, Path and Alert Monitor would seem to be make sense to be included in the feed.

Thanks for any help.

Karen

I've looked at this a couple of times since you posted and can't figure it out.
Perhaps someone in the TAP could submit this as an 'enhancement request'.
