ccampbel -> Software Update Errors (5/9/2008 11:20:00 AM)

I have several machines that are getting a 0x80004005 error in the WUAHandler.log file.  The line displays "Failed to Add Update Source for WUAgent of type (2) and id (GUID). Error = 0x80004005"
The updates were working in the past.  They just stopped.
I reviewed the WindowsUpdate.log and the lines for for the WSUS server and WSUS status server are <NULL>.  In the past they were pointing to the correct WSUS server.
Does anyone know why the WSUS server location switch to NULL and how to force them to correct location.

By any chance did a GPO get set that configured the WSUS settings? There is a thread on the Technet forums that details which setting to stay away from...I'm posting from my smartphone, so I can't locate it right now.

this very well may not be the issue, but it's the first thing that came to mind.

I reviewed the TechNet forum and the error code in that case was 0x80040692.  Thanks

Have you checked what Wally had responded in this post? (http://forums.microsoft.com/TechNet/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=3319154&SiteID=17)

Paul,

I have Wally's information.  I will be checking a couple of the systems tomorrow.

Thanks,
Charles
