lnesta431 -> zti error opening sql connection: cannot initialize sspi package (5/19/2008 10:02:08 AM)

I receive this error in ztigather.log during "Configure" action (MDT with SCCM)

When I troubleshoot the connection via the following way, I don't have any issue and the I gather the correct info out of the DB.

Copy ztighater.xml, ztigater.wsf, ztiutility.wsf and CS.ini to one folder and run
cscript.exe ztigather.wsf /debug:true

I found a KB telling that I have to rename security.dll but I cannot find that file. The server 64-bit the boot image i 32-bit.

Anyone an idea?

Thanks Nico

more info

It works when I do the test in Windows

Doing the same test in WinPE, I have the same error.
So must be something with my boot image. Though ADO support is enabled...

I just ran into this issue last week, and I have the exact problems that you state. I run ZTIGather /debug:true in one folder to test, and it works fine. When I try to run this in WinPE I get the ZTI error opening SQL Connection: Cannot initialize SSPI error. Have you had any luck in troubleshooting this issue?
Thanks,
Chris

Hi

Yes after stuggeling a while [&:], the root cause was that I copied my customsettings.ini of an earlier an env.
In the CS.ini was a  variable specified that was not existing in the database. (I did not use that value anymore, it
was %keyboardlocale%)

So apperenlty the Configure Action was hanging because the value could not be located in the database.

Stupid but I lost a lof time with it!! Why can't WinPE just pop-up an error??

So What I would advice is to check your CS.ini, word by word to see if there is no problem here...

Anyway hope you have some luck...

Nico
