jnelson993 -> RE: Collect version info on specific DLLs (6/6/2008 3:57:31 PM)

No need to go to the mof, DLL and EXE version information (yes, the same information as when you right-click a file from explorer and look at the properties) comes in under normal software inventory. (Forgive me if you already know this, I just want to be absolutely thorough) From the SMS console, navigate to: SITE DATABASE SITE HIERARCHY XXX- SERVER SITE SETTINGS CLIENT AGENTS SOFTWARE INVENTORY AGENT Then click on the INVENTORY COLLECTION tab. When you add (with the little yellow star) a new file type, it will tell the clients to start inventorying file existence and file version information for the filespec you specify. After that the data will show up in reports or queries and you can create collections based on who has what DLL and what version.
