ghernandez211 -> Unable to resolve site code (6/14/2008 9:55:21 PM)

Gentelemen I deployed sccm about 3 months ago, I have 1 site, I did not extend active directory.
I created records within WINS for the the sccm servers. I also added wins entries to the dhcp options in order for Dns clients to get this information from the dhcp server.
This all works initially, and now new clients are unable to resolve the site code, When selecting the option for the site code. I get error Unable to resolve site code.

I have checkd the locationserviceslog.txt and this is what I get, Can anyone help out.

Hmmm
Do you have a Server Locator Point Role installed?  Seems you would if it has been working..but have to ask.
Its only new clients that do it?  All existing clients work fine?
Has anything changed (network infrastructure, OS Image, etc)?
Do the clients display any other abnormal behavior?  (check Event Viewer, etc)

Also, just out of curiosity, how come no extended AD schema?  Makes life much easier, very non intrusive.  :)

Yes I have a server locator point since the initial installation. This is currently happening to all the clients , new ones and old ones.
Really nothing has changed in the infrasture, Wins is still enabled. Wins options within Dhcp are still there,
The only wierd thing that im noticing on clients, is that for new clients, Im not sure yet if this is happenging to existing clients aswell but
on the general tab the last line it states, Site Mode Unkown.  Also in the actions tabl there is two options in there alone, also in the actions tab there is two options in there alone, I selected the option to download machine policy but nothing ever happens. Now the only I can recall that perhaps has something to do with which I dont thinks is that I deselected the option within the site settings stating that this site contains only sccm clients. Schema was never extended becuase we dont need the extra functionlities tha pertain to clients accessing sccm through the web with certicates etc. Other reasons my supervisor didnt want to do it for many other reasons.  I appreciate you help. Thanks in advance.

Have any changes been made that would effect site boundaries?

As a side note...
I would also take another look at extending AD.  There are litteraly like 9 attributes added (not sure the exact number off hand because I am at home) its very minor extention and is not really for internet based clients.  Long before Internet/Certificate based clients SMS has had the ability to extend the AD Schema to remove the dependancy on WINS, etc and allow you to use the flexability of directory services.  Some of the new benefits of extending for SCCM is things like client install parameters being published via AD so that a client installs will look to AD for this info if not supplied on the command line.
