cdemoss -> AD schema extensions backwards compatability with SMS 2003 (6/16/2008 10:19:17 AM)

Good day. I've been researching the upgrade process for SMS 2003 to SCCM, and have discovered that the AD schema for SMS 2003 is not adequate for SCCM, which means that I should update the schema extensions to the SCCM extensions. Since the organization I am with is part of a larger organization, of which other departments likely use SMS 2003 and are not planning on upgrading, this brings up the question: Are the schema extensions for SCCM backwards compatible with schema extensions for SMS 2003? Alternatively, if we upgrade the AD extensions for SCCM, will other domains in the forest running SMS 2003 be negatively affected? Through a search on this site I found one post that claimed the extensions are backwards compatible, but I obviously can't just take the word of one person on a forum. Could others confirm the backwards compatability, and even better perhaps point me in the direction of a MS document confirming backwards compatability? I appreciate everyone's time. Chad
