I just started realizng that some of the "current user" registry settings I am attempting to apply as part of my base build capture do not seem to be carrying over.  In BDD 2.5 the system would auto logon as administrator to run certain tasks and then sysprep would copy the admin profile to the default profile for all new users.  Now in SCCM I believe the "post install/pre-capture" phase now runs in the SYSTEM context thus not accepting my configurations that i want to apply to all users.  Anyone else resolved this?  I am thinking I can just insert the keys myself into the Default registry hive but wanted to see how others may be doing this.  Maybe I am missign something obvious? [:-]

I just use a VBScript to manipulate the registry and then set that up as a Package to be used when deploying the OS image. Then it runs just like everything else does in the SCCM OSD process. Thanks for the reply.  I am actually doing it prior the image capture but I have found a valid method. (Sort of relating to that article).

I am loading the Default Users NTUSER.DAT (as a task in my sequence) and making the changes there prior to capturing the image.

The profile customization behavior that you speak of is actually part of the mini setup; this functionality was changed in XP SP2 so that the admin profile was copied to the default user profile during the mini setup (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/887816). Unfortunately, not all settings actually got copied and this change in the SP2 was not well publicized. XP SP3 mini setup includes the patch which by default reverts back to the previous behavior (based upon this non-offical blog: http://remyservices.wordpress.com/2008/05/15/sysprep-updates-to-sp3/).

I personally use a batch script and reg.exe to customize ntuser.dat from the default user profile.
