gmaynard -> SCOM reporting on Windows 2008 (6/30/2008 9:53:46 AM)

I have SCOM SP1 installed on a Windows 2008 server with SQL 2005. I cannot get SCOM reporting to install. I have seen two errors. The first error is in the prerequisite check and it claims that ASP.NET 2.0 is not installed. When I tried to install the ASP.NET 2.0 download, the message was that it was already part of the OS. The second error I am getting is a "SRS error" at the end of the reporting installer wizard. I have tried:

  1. Selecting all of the role services under IIS except FTP and CGI
  2. aspnet_regiis.exe –i –enable
  3. I uninstalled and reinstalled aspnet
  4. I reset the permissions on SCOM and SQL to explicitly give the action account full control
  5. I made the action account a dbo on the OpsMrg DB and gave it sysadmin rights
  6. I have tried the install with different credentials

Any other ideas?

First, this is currently an unsupported configuration: http://blogs.technet.com/momteam/archive/2008/05/07/opsmgr-2007-with-sp1-support-for-windows-server-2008-update.aspx.

However, here is another blog entry from the OpsMgr team that describes how to install reporting on Server 08: http://blogs.technet.com/momteam/archive/2007/12/17/steps-to-install-opsmgr-2007-db-and-reporting-on-windows-server-2008-longhorn.aspx. This is no guarentee of success however, as it is unsupported.
