xneilpetersonx -> Error Code (0x80070032) during TS action “Capture the Reference Machine” (6/30/2008 5:46:12 PM)

I am experiencing some an issue during the last action of a Build and Capture task sequence – the Capture the Reference Machine action.  After SYSPREP runs, the machine is rebooted, I get a “Initializing Hardware message”, followed by a “Windows is Starting Up” message, then followed by the “Capturing the Reference Machine message.  As soon as the “Capturing the Reference Machine” actions starts I am given another pop-up “Task Sequence XXXXXX has failed with the Error Code (0x80070032). I know this is a very vague error code and I have collected as much info as I can.
  • Platform - SCCM SP1
  • Reference Computer – Microsoft Virtual PC
  • I have enabled the debugging and the SMSTS.log looks good. I can see that SYSPREP had complete, followed by a bunch of variable assignments and a call for a reboot.  After the reboot nothing else is written to the log file.
  • I have verified that after the reboot there is network connectivity.
  • I have verified that the account specified in the Capture action has access to the Capture destination.

When building the task sequence I was very straight forward nothing fancy or special. I’m very new to OSD and wanted to start off simple as can be and work my way into more complicated deployments.
Can anyone offer any advice on this issue?

Thanks in advance.neilp

Error code 32 is "The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process."

The one problem with the OS capture task is that it uses a statically configured image filename. Check that the file corresponding to the filename specified is not in use by another process.
