Hi All:

My SCCM deployment of XP SP3 to aVM keeps erroring out because the local disk cannot be located.  Does anyone know where and what  needs to be set in the task sequence to get this to work?

what error do you get ? Bsod ?
There are two things to consider:
the first one is the partitioning bug when using Winpe to format a partition where you install xp/2003. This is known as the 'Uberbug'
The easiest way to avoid this is to define a TS Variable OSDDiskpartBiosCompatibilityMode = True (same settings as in Set Bios diskpart compatibility mode in MDT, the scripts are the same, so no need to recreate the reg...).
The other problem might be the absence of the drivers for the controller, but if you deploy to the same hardware (vm to vm), this is probably not the case.
