Fguillot -> Logs for Collection Errors (7/3/2008 9:15:36 AM)

Does anyone which log I can look at to see why, my collections are not populating.  I have set my boundaries with both IP subnet and AD Site.  It has been running for two days and not one computer is showing up.  I want to view the logs to see if there are any errors.

Or could there have been something that I have just missed

Did you enable (and configure) any discoveries?

Yes I configured the Active Directory System Discovery, Active Directory User Discovery, and Heartbeat Discovery

Check the ad system discovery logs file, adsysdis.log, located in <install directory>\logs.  Use Trace32 from the toolkit to view logs if you aren't already, it makes life easier.

My collections are starting to populate, I guess I needed to chose the option to run now.  Thanks for tip on the log.

What would be the best way to install and upgrade clients.

I almost always use the built-in push install.

But wouldn't that cause a lot of network traffic or would it be the same no matter how you install the client.

Installation is a one time thing; no matter how the client agent is delivered, it still has to be delivered over the network so network wise, there is no difference.
