gkuhlmann -> Problem with pushing the CM client and making a collection (8/21/2008 1:20:12 PM)

Hello all,

I am in need of some of some help.
Our company is moving from Novell using NAL to SCCM along with using SoftGrid.  This project ran out of money and it has now been dropped into my lap.
I am very new to SCCM with my only training coming from the contractors that were here when this project had funds.  Anyway, I am having several problems.

  1. I can’t get the CM client to push to many of the systems that it has discovered from AD.  I know some of these issues are due to savaging not being turned on in AD and I know we have many dead computers in our domain too but I am also having this problem with my test PC which is running VPC on a Vista box.  After trying for a day I manually load the client but none of my apps will deploy to it.  I can ping this computers and even run the remote tools on it.   I just can’t get anything to push to it and several other systems.

  2. This second issue may be related to the above problem.  I am having problems getting collections that I make to populate.  One I created by using a query that I made and the query seems to be working.  Another I selected the computers from the All Windows XP Systems collection while going through the new collection wizard.  In this second collection the computers show that they have the client installed when I view the All Windows XP System collection.  Why won’t these collections update?

Any help would be appreciated.  I need some how to documentation for a beginner, I don’t even know what all this stuff is called.
Info on using SoftGrid with SCCM would be helpful too.  I have a mountain of stuff to learn so if you can point me in the right direction that would be great.

Thanks

wow.. can of worms. where do we start. LOL JK.. OK,   First lets make sure your site server is configured correctly are all roles working, You said yoru onw SCCM, did you extend the schema, if so a SLP is not needed.  Check yoru boundaries and make sure you have valid IP subnets or ad sites, do yo usee anything in the ALL systems container?    Feel free to call me direct if you would like.. might be alot easier thatn typing. or anyone that is willing ot help.. email me direct and ill give you my cell.
