Cant think of how it would be but I have decided to stay with WSUS as my tool of choice but was wondering if anyone knew if it would be possible to report compliance data back to SCCM for reporting?

What's the reason for going this route since SCCM uses WSUS in the first place? By going with a stand-alone WSUS server, you (among other things) lose the built-in reporting and the advantage of maintenance windows within SCCM, and (off the top of my head) I can't think of anything that you'd gain.

Are all of your clients SMS 2003, which cannot take advantage of SCCM's WSUS features?

I tested the SUP functionality in my lab and quote honestly the only advantage I saw was the reporting.  I dont have any maintenance window requirements and the overly complicated management interface adds a layer of complexity that I do not need.  I also had many little buggy issues with it like patches installing and then displaying the "pending restart" dialog but when you would click the "Restart now" it would throw an error stating it was unable able to reboot and to contact an admin.  I dug through every log and event known to man to see what the cause was and could not find anything.  I also got no response from Microsoft on the issue.  I could build the same machine 10 times and get different results each time.  Mostly it was the restart error but other time it would simply not install the patches.  Again for me the only advantage I saw was reporting and that wasnt enought of a pro to deal with all the cons.  My current WSUS infrastructure works well and is simple to manage (although the reporting is seriously lacking).

So I was hoping to have the best of both worlds.  :)
