zadishlic958 -> Distribution Point vs. Secondary Site (9/15/2008 1:03:13 PM)

Hi, I have the following dilemma. My primary site (SCS) is located in our corporate office and besides of other roles it is also a protected Distribution Point for our corporate office. It works great. Now I have another business location and let’s call it BEM that is connected by WAN/routers to our corporate office. I have setup a Distribution Point share on one of the servers at BEM thinking that if there is a local copy of packages for advertising, it will ease network congestion and download/install quicker on local clients. However, that has not been the case. I tried pushing out Symantec Endpoint Protection client and 97% of the clients report “Waiting for content” in a report even after two days. Go figure. Now I was convinced that if I setup a protected Distribution Point share, the clients will get their packages only from that particular Distribution Point share unless I specifically allow otherwise, correct? Either way, I am now considering creating a Secondary Site at the BEM location. So I wanted to hear you recommendations. What would you do if you had a remote site over a WAN, would you use a Distribution Point share or make a Secondary Site? Thanks
