is it possible (and how) to exclude an OU from discovery?  I am using a recursive since we've got a gazillion containers going on.  However under our main workstation OU there is a container that contains ~500 machines that are considered 'off limits'.

I know I can place those PC names in the registry on the site server to exclude client installation but I thought doing this would be much more efficient.  Now, if I could put that ou in to the site server exclusions itself that would be even better!

2 options that I know of:
  1. move that container outside of the scope of your AD discovery
  2. Deny access to the container for the SMS Server and any other site accounts you are using. This will cause access denied errors on discovery.

You would need to turn off recursion above the OU in question.  Then add several other LDAP queries to pickup the othe OUs, these you could turn recursion back on.
