kodiak_da_bear -> Issue with VMware blue screening with MDT & SCCM (9/19/2008 4:29:19 PM)

I'm having an issue with VMware workstation the latest release blue screening on me when I try to build and capture Win XP SP2 in MDT.  I also am having the same issue with OS Deployment via task sequencer in SCCM.  It works fine in winpe, does an unattended install of Win XP SP2, then reboots the computer at this point it’s booting into windows and it crashes with a blue screen relating to a HD driver issue. I have the SCSI and all the VMware related drivers being put into the out of box drivers in MDT and to be installed in the setup of Windows.  I also have them in SCCM to be installed but it still will blue screen on me.  I also have the Set Diskpart BIOS Compatibility Mode set to true in MDT and SCCM.  This didn’t help the issue.

I can take the same process in Virtual Pc 2007 and it works fine, so I took my completed wim file and made a standalone cd within SCCM and then ran it on VMware workstation and it works fine, but it if I run it via task sequencer in MDT or SCCM it will blue screen on me.  It like it needs more drivers then the VMware drivers.

Anyone else having this issue?

Thank you for your help.

I had a lot of issues building VMWare guest OS's with XP so i got fed up and just used P2V from a physical machine with my base image.  Not a real solution to the problem but when under a deadline, it worked.
