rjenk74 -> Task Sequence and 'Chained' Apps (10/2/2008 10:03:39 AM)

Hey all,

relativly knew to SCCM and have been playing around with OSD and the Task Sequence and all good so far. I also have a few apps i packaged up that are chained together, and thus just the last app in the chain has the advert/collection, basially its an app with a few addons that must be install in a specific order, so the advert calls app5, which has a pre req of app4 ...etc and again all works well and installs on machines ok.

Now I wanted to put this 'suite' into the Task Sequence, so i added the last app in the 'chain' and it failed, and have since been told its because the Task Sequence doesn't support pre reqs. So I simply added the apps individually in the order of install, but again it failed. However, if i remove the pre req options they all install ok?  All the apps are set to run in the TS if not have an advert

So it appears that the Task sequence ignores any app pre-res, but doesn't like it if they are even selected?

Of course the way around this is to have one set of programs that are chained, and another set of programs that aren't and thus can be used in the Task Squence however this just seems a bit odd, or is this just an SCCM 'feature'

hopefully the above makes sense

cheers
BP
