old_chicago -> What the RIS is going on!? (10/8/2008 8:44:03 AM)

RIS is turning itself back on after I disable | stop the service! We are trying to use two different deployment technologies that are segmented off on different servers. We have one server that runs WDS/MDT and RIS is running on the Domain Controller. We have experienced some behavior where the RIS/BINLSVC is disabled/then stopped, it automagically turns back on after an extended period of time. I am trying to determine what the root cause is of this incident. As far as I can tell there are no dependencies with RIS/BINLSVC. I’m sure we all will agree that the service should not come back on unless something forces it to. Is it possible that we have any GPOs that would trigger the service to start up? Could there be some scripts that someone wrote to check for certain services and start them up? Outside of that, I don’t know how it is even possible to turn the service back on once it is disabled. Has anyone experienced this behavior? I want to blow RIS out of the water, but unfortunately, we have to keep it intact at some of our remote offices that are running older hardware. Thanks! Rich Please let me know If anyone is aware of any GPOs that could be triggering this, or if you have any thoughts regarding this issue.
