sm850 -> Can SMS 2003 SP3 be put on a virtual server? (10/8/2008 9:57:39 AM)

Anyone done this? Is it supported by Microsoft?

Mine runs on a Virtual and I have had no issues at all.
Is it supported by MS?  Don't know, but it works fine.

It's supported on Virtual Server 2005 R2 SP1.  And it actually works there OK in the lab and I suspect on small sites.

We run both our 2 Primary Sites and 1 Central Site on guest Windows Server 2003 SP2 OS's hosted on VMWare ESX.  We have around 2,300 clients total.

It works great.  I'm not the ESX support guy in our group, and I know that some fine-tuning of the ESX servers have been done to provide the best SLA to the SMS guest OS's.

Supported by MS?  Don't know.  I've only had to call PSS for the freeby hotfixes and such, and I've never been asked about my hardware configurations.

Good luck!

I assumed this was the case (supported on Virtual Server 2005), but we are a VMWare shop and I am pretty sure, that is *not* supported.

edit:  Someone just posted same above.  :)
