ProWeb -> SP 1 vs R2; which should I upgrade to? (10/8/2008 10:16:25 AM)

I take it that R2 includes everything from SP 1?

Do I need to install SP 1 first before upgrading to R2?

Are either of the upgrade installations reversible/recoverable in case something screws up?

Thanks!

Yes you will need to upgrade to SP1 before you can install R2.  R2 is only a 10Mb or so upgrade.

I don't think they are reversible.  Once you start you must push through.  There are very very few issues with upgrading to Sp1.  The main one has to do with WAIK, just uninstall it before the upgrade and you shouldn't see any problems.  Granted every enviroment is different.

SP1 must be installed, then you can upgrade to SCCM R2

The following table shows which product versions that the Configuration Manager 2007 R2 feature update release can be installed on:

Configuration Manager 2007 (with no service pack applied)

No

Configuration Manager 2007 SP1

Yes

MAN.. i need to slow down today.. working on two many things at once.. Mathew is correct need SP1

Configuration Manager 2007 R2 is an upgrade release. You must run Setup on an existing Configuration Manager 2007 SP1 site.
