tmartin678 -> SCCM integration with SCOM 2007 (10/8/2008 6:38:47 PM)

We are running SCCM 2007 and SCOM 2007, and are trying to find a way to integrate the two of them. Is there a way to have SCCM 2007 monitor/report on SCOM 2007?

Thanks,
Tom

Not sure what you're after here - each product provides different services;

SCCM, System Center Configuration Manager, is more inventory of software and hardware while providing a way to distribute software updates, installations, Operating Systems, etc...  A sort of monitoring feaure is when a desired configuration is no longer set on a computer system.

SCOM, System Center Operations Manager, is more of monitoring the function and health of known applications in your organization.  The monitoring and health knowledge is imported by management packs and it allows to customize and create your own.

SCCM client can certainly be installed on SCOM servers for inventory and management of software updates.

SCOM can monitor your SCCM servers as well as supporting infrastructure servers such as DNS, Active Directory, etc.. and report if any particular server has a problem that might affect SCCM operations.
HOWEVER - SCCM is a 32 bit server app! yet you can install it on a 64 bit server - which would force SCCM to run in a 32bit subsystem.  SCOM cannot monitor a 32 bit subsystem.  So, it's best to install SCCM on a 32 bit Operating System so that SCOM can properly monitor it.

You can also set the option for each package in SCCM to report package installation failures to SCOM.
