hi all,
I'm actually in a situation where I would like to move my SCCM2007 infrastructure (only 1 primary site), to new hardware.  In the past an in-place-upgrade from SMS2003 was done, but now the need is there to change anyway.  .....dhowww.....

Any experiance anyone with "moving" a site?  (the SQL db is on another server)

Yes, we did it from SMS 2003 but should be the same for SCCM 2007.  We turned off the old server installed the primary on the new server with the old site code.  Then we reconnected to the remote DB and watch the clients.  Almost all the clients switched over.  Some took 2 days to switch over.  For some reason we didn't that a couple machines refused to connect.  We had to do a client repair.  In the next couple of months I plan to format my server and bring it up as a 2008 server and put SCCM back down on it.

waauw,

- What about advertisments etc on the clients. Nothing, already installed, reinstalled on itself or any of that?

thanks for sharing...

We did a site backup as well as exported the collections and adv to mofs.  We made some vbscripts also to aid in the processes.  Since alsmost everything is in the Database a site reset should take care of it.

 Too much work.

Why not just convert it to a virtual machine and run it on your hypervisor of chioce?
