Had I learned about this tool say, 6 months to a year ago, I would have prodded my employer to purchase a couple of licenses of Wise Package Studio Standard. I wonder if Microsoft has considered atleast updating or releasing the code to this tool? It's already been a LONG time since any updates,. and yet many admins like myself continue to find it useful... and it's 20 friggin 12.
Re: myITforum Polls: SMS Installer (skynrain)

 Wonderful it is.

Re:myITforum Polls: SMS Installer (jakky11)

You run SMS Installer on a reference computer that is configured to match the target computers.

Re:myITforum Polls: SMS Installer (lpillai)

A great tool - Would like to see an improved version of SMS Installer which would also bundle up App-V apps

Re:myITforum Polls: SMS Installer (tmatthews344)

NOTE: ... if you really really cant get over SMS Installer, buy WISE and use the WISE script tool, it is exactly like SMS installer except it has been updated more than once in the last 7 years. So many of the bugs SMSI has don't exist. Plus you get other cool features and new commands. The reason is that the WISE tool and SMSI share a code base stretching back many years. I believe MS bought SMSI code originally from WISE.

PS - I haven't used WISE in years, and since they have changed hands I don't know how many times in the last 5 years (Altiris, Symantec) I don't even really know if the product exists like it used to.
Re:myITforum Polls: SMS Installer (admin)

Microsoft stopped development of SMS Installer a long while back - despite customer outcry. :) Microsoft partnered with Installshield at that time for SCCM. Installshield went through a couple name changes and aquisitions and they are now Flexera (a myITforum.com partner). The link Terry posted is the most current version of the Microsoft/Flexera partnership.

Re:myITforum Polls: SMS Installer (voodoo1967)

 Cheers Terry

I'll take a look, I guess this is the wrong forum / thread .
