Hi
I am trying to install Scom 2007 windows server 2008 64 bits with a separate
Sql 2005 SP2 server for the database (also running on 2008 64 bits)
I installed the db on the sql server without problem (I installed locally on the Sql as remote DB install did not seem to be an option when connected to the mom server). Now i want to install the other roles on the server and i get 'account verification failed' when entering the credentials for the action account and sdk account. Whatever i put inside - even nothing, i get this error message. I am logged on the
server with full admin credentials at domain and sql level, but this does not
seem to help.
Is this simply a bug ? (i tried to launching the shortcut with 'run as
administrator' but this didn't help

Note that i installed hotfixes KB951327, KB953290 and KB952664

thanks in advance
Bruno

hi
There seems to be a bug in the iso file -when used as a cdrom at least-. I got some more trouble with Labels at the end of the install and got it working by copying the cdrom locally...
I posted the first part of the install on my blog. Second - and problematic part - should be posted tomorrow. (I got it working now ;-)

hi brpo

i had exactly the same problem you're experiencing. also running scom2007 on windows 2008 64-bit and my accounts were forever giving me hassles. what i did was the following:
Scom Action account is part of Domain Admins/Users and Performance Monitor Users group.
Scom SDK account is setup as Domain User and part of Windows Authorization Access Group.
Scom Date Warehouse and Data Reader account are just setup as Domain Users.
All of my accounts are also part of scom admin security group and Administrators group.
We had to uninstall SQL & reinstall it (twice) and then we also had to install SP1 for Reporting Services.
To get RS and DW to work, we then created a seperate reporting instance and called it scomreporting. Also check you application pools, iis settings etc. We managed to get ours working after we created a seperate instance instead of using the default one. Once everything was up & running, we upgraded SCOM to SP1. SCOM is giving a lot of hassles esp on Windows 2008. Hope this helps a bit!

Hi
thanks for your feedback. however all the accounts have the correct permissions.
the 'bug' is with the account check of the installer. I already had this error when trying to install Scom itself, then used the command line as a workaround.
Whatever account you put there won't make a difference, as the check itself is failing, not the account.
I am waiting for our support contract to be opened with Microsoft to open a call. I will keep you posted when i get more info
